Woodside Warriors

This is the homepage for the Woodside Warriors Cricket Club based in Bingley, West Yorkshire, England. We have been playing 20 overs cricket now for over 30 years. The game we play is very similar to 20twenty cricket , the main difference being that in our version, all outfield players (other than the wicket keeper), have to bowl 2 overs each. Also, we don't play the LBW rule since our batsmen are crap and our umpires are usually senile.

Stead Senior begins his rambles
this is a long overdue blog as I've just worked out how to log on. You may have noticed a mid season gap in woodsides heroic efforts, due to the fact that only one member was clued up enough to write stuff and when he went on holiday the updates dried up just like toms boundaries.
so now is my chance to take you all back to what has been described as the 'innings of these season' by someone other than myself. It was the usual Woodside story - a good start and then the seasoned lemming approach where wickets fell for fun, all except one.. This was none other than yours truly, Stead Senior, who was , all said and done, the backbone of this team all season.( well it felt like it after carrying so many for so long).
the game in question was against Riddlesden I think, and whilst wickets tumbled for fun, this seasoned campaigner crafted an innings of majestic stroke play & hard hitting boundaries to finish unbeaten and win the game for his side. This was only one of his many contributions, but unlike certain more vain members he preferred to do his talking on the pitch!
